A Merritt College Summer 2007 Course

Friday, July 20, 6-9pm, and
Saturday, July 21, 9am-3pm
This course is designed to help Child Care providers understand the issues
faced by LGBT families in early childhood programs. Participants will have the opportunity to refl ect on their own assumptions and biases in relation to alternative families, discuss the importance of professional ethics and learn to create
welcoming environments for all families.

Meeting the Needs of LBGT Families in ECE Settings
In this free training for pre-school teachers, family- and center-based childcare providers, participants are given the opportunity:
- To discuss curricula ideas for your classrooms
- To explore your own values and biases of the LGBT community
- To strengthen relationships between providers and families
- To receive staff development tools including research articles and children’s books
