Our Work

Accomplishments

• City College of San Francisco, a collaborative partner of the Initiative, offered the first course in the U.S. for early childhood educators to make children’s existing programs more LGBT family-friendly.
  
  
• Tools have been developed that assist LGBT families and child care programs to create friendlier environments for all families.
  
  
• An LGBT family poster and a guide to quality child care for children of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender parents was developed.
  
  
• Third annual conference on supporting LGBT families and educators in early childhood settings was held in March 2006.
  
  
• Free trainings on ways to be more welcoming of LGBT families in early childhood settings were held at childcare programs and in college courses of ECE students
